Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s boxing sensation Hassan Mwakinyo says he will give his all against Sergio Eduardo when he comes up against the Argentine in Nairobi tonight.

The 10-round non-title bout takes place at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre.

It is the main undercard in the event dubbed ‘Nairobi Fight Night’, where World Boxing Council (WBC) women Super bantamweight champion Kenyan Fatuma Zarika will put her belt on the line against Zambia’s Catherine Phiri.

“I am always looking out for a knockout and if I get the opportunity, I will go for it,” Mwakinyo was quoted as saying from Nairobi yesterday.

Mwakinyo and Zarika arrived in Kenya last weekend from England, where they had camped ahead of the ‘Nairobi Fight Night.’

They were accompanied by British boxing legend and former World Boxing Council (WBC) cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew.

Bellew – the former Commonwealth Games titleholder – teamed up with renowned British boxing trainers John McNally and Declan O’Rourke to train Zarika and Mwakinyo at the Rotunda Gymnasium in Liverpool.

But Mwakinyo should not expect an easy ride as Gonzalez is reportedly ready to give the Tanzanian boxer a real run for his money tonight.

Gonzalez – a veteran of 20 years in the ring – has been in Nairobi since Wednesday, undergoing light training ahead of his first-ever fight on African soil.

Gonzalez will bring a record of 31 wins (15 via knockout), 23 defeats and four draws against Mwakinyo, who has been a professional boxer for four years.
