Simba, Mtibwa Sugar advance into first round of continental championships

Dar es Salaam. Simba stormed into the first round of the African Champions League after humiliating Mbabane Swallows of eSwatini 4-0 in the encounter held at Mavuso Stadium, Manzini.

The victory means Simba have advanced in the stage with an 8-1 goal aggregate. The team is now waiting to face the winner between Nkana Red Devils of Zambia and UD Songo of Mozambique to be played today in Kitwe, Zambia.

Zambian import, Cletus Chama was man of the match after scoring two goals in the encounter officiated by Seychelles referees, Nelson Emile Fred and assistants, Hensley Danny Petrousse and Gerard Pool.

Chama scored in the 27th and 32nd to make the team lead 2-0 at the breather. The two goals made Chama to score a total of three goals in two encounters.

Other two goals for the Msimbazi Street giants were scored by Emmanuel Okwi (51st minute) and MeddieKagere in the 61st minute. In the first match, Simba’s captain, John Bocco scored two goals.

As Simba won 4-0 away against Mbabane Swallows, Mtibwa Sugar registered 1-0 victory against Northern Dynamo of Seychelles in Victoria.

Haruna Chanongo scored Mtibwa Sugar’s goal to make the team advance into the first round with a 5-0 aggregate.

Mtibwa Sugar will now play Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) between December 14 and 16 and second leg between December 21 and 23.
