Dar es Salaam. SportPesa, one of the leading betting firms in the country, has promised to give Sh150 million to Simba SC should they oust TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the African Champions League.

Simba, who will play TP Mzembe on April 6 in a double legged tie, has already received some Sh50 million from the betting company for romping into the quarterfinals.

Speaking yesterday, SportPesa Tanzania director of administration and compliance Tarimba Abbas said they were proud of Simba’s success in the African Champions League.

Simba will play host to the Congolese giants at the National Stadium before travelling to Lubumbashi for the second leg on April 12.

Tarimba said Simba were the first club to sign a contract with their firm before striking a similar deal with Young Africans. According to him, they have set aside Sh250 million for the Msimbazi street outfit if they manage to lift the African Champions League trophy.

“Simba deserve kudos for what they have so far achieved. However, they should not be complacent if they are to win a total of Sh400 million from them,” said Tarimba.

This, according to Tarimba, aims at encouraging players to perform well in the championship. This is the second time for Simba to qualify for the quarter finals of the tournament.
