Tanzania: Minister tells Hotels to hire security guards with National Service Training

Karatu. Tourist hotels have been directed to employ security guards with National Service training.
The directive was issued by Natural Resources and Tourism deputy minister Constantine Kanyasu during his visit to privatised tourist hotels.

“Security for tourists and employees of the hotel is one of the most important factors to ensure sustainable tourism,” he said.
He also called on Manyara Hotel to offer its services in shillings instead of foreign currencies to attract more Tanzanians.
Karatu District Commissioner Theresia Muhongo said the shortage of hotels around Lake Manyara National Park was a major challenge.

 Lake Manyara National Park chief conservator Noelia Muyonga warned that the increased human economic activities around the lake was threatening ecosystem.

According to Muyonga, the water level at the lake has continued to fall due to farming and livestock grazing.
