Dar es Salaam. Tanzania Forestry Service Agency (TFS) Public Relations officer died suddenly as she addressed a press conference on the evening of Tuesday February, 19.

The late Glory Mziray was concluding reading the TFS report on promotion of forest status to journalists when she excused herself, saying she was not feeling well.

People who were present at the event, including journalists and government officials, said she was speaking well at the beginning of the press conference but her condition started to deteriorate as she was winding up her statement.

She was then rushed to the nearby TMJ Health Centre at Chang’ombe, but the doctors pronounced her dead.

“She started to become unconscious as she was taking questions from reporters and we were forced to take her out of the room so that she could get fresh air,” said a reporter, who attended the press conference.

Dr Chris Peterson of TMJ hospital, Chang’ombe branch, said according to information gathered from the relatives of the deceased, she suffered from blood pressure.

In her report the deceased stated that the government had promoted the status of seven forests including Itulu, Rondo, Pinndiro, Kalambo, Mwambesi, AghondinaKilinga.

During her speech, MsMziray said TFS continued to negotiate with the local governments invillages to find ways of conserving damaged forests.

The aim of these efforts, she said, was to restore their status for the benefit of the present and future generations.

She also suggested the commerciality of the beekeeping as TFS continues to look for markets within and outside the country.
