Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate, Dr Kizza Besigye has clarified on the mwebereremu comments, which he says a section of the public misperceived as directed at Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine.

Dr Besigye on Sunday apologised describing the remarks as deliberate attempts by some people to pit him against fellow opposition politician Bobi Wine.

“A deliberate attempt by some “interests” to pit me against my brother Bobi isn’t lost on me. The clip of 50 seconds from a speech of one-and-half hours can do that. Bobi isn’t one of those driving a tribal campaign. Whoever understood my words to be aimed Bobi, my sincere apology,” Dr Besigye tweeted in response to a tweet by by journalist, Sadab Kitatta.

In a tweet accompanied by a 45 second video clip, Mr Kitatta said:”So shameful that Kizza Besigye can misrepresent a clear message by Bobi Wine. At least I have listened to Bobi saying, "be part of this struggle, don't leave it to your leaders; mwebereremu." How tribalistic is that message?”

The tweet stirred debate with some tweeps criticising Dr Besigye.
