Dodoma. The government has prepared an investment guideline on solid waste.

The guideline has classified available investment opportunities and procedures of applying for permits and licences.

The Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office (Union and Environment), January Makamba, made the statement today April 16, 2019 when presenting his ministry’s budget for the 2019/2020.

Makamba explained that the environmental destruction caused by solid waste continues to be a challenge in urban areas. 

“This is contributed by limited capacity by local government authorities and poor infrastructures about the management of this kind of waste,” he said.

He said during the 2018/19 Financial Year his office had prepared an investment guideline and increased efforts in improving the management of solid waste in the country.

According to him some of the available opportunities included the collection and transportation of solid waste, electricity generation, construction and operation of modern dumps, solid waste treatment plants and the destruction of hazardous waste.
