Ali Mufuruki resigns from Vodacom Tanzania board chairmanship

Dar es Salaam. Tanzanian businessman and board member of several organisations, Mr Ali Mufuruki, has resigned from his position as chairman of Vodacom Tanzania.

A statement printed in local papers on Friday October 18 said Mr Mufuruki has resigned from being an independent non-executive director and Chairman of both the Board of Directors and of the Nominations Committee.

“…with effect from 1 December 2019..Mr Mufuruki wishes to devote more time to pursue his business interests,’’ said a statement signed by Ms Caroline Mduma, Vodacom Tanzania’s Company Secretary.

Last month the Vodacom Tanzania shareholders approved Mr Mufuruki to continue with his position as the chairman of the board of directors.

In the statement released today, Ms Mduma said the board was in the process of identifying a new independent chairman and a further announcement would be made in the due course.

Mr Mufuruki, who is the chief executive officer of Infotech Investment Group Ltd, joined Vodacom Tanzania’s board of directors on August 1, 2017.

Vodacom Tanzania is listed on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE).
