Dar es Salaam. The Chato Member of Parliament, who doubles as the Energy minister, Dr Medard Kalemani, has said Chato is now an investment potential hub following improved infrastructures and available natural resources.

Dr Kalemani made the statement on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, during the inauguration of the Burigi-Chato National Park held in Chato District, Geita Region.

Speaking during the event graced by President John Magufuli, Dr Kalemani said considering the number of development projects implemented in the district and available natural resources in the area, Chato is growing into a big city in the near future.

“I want to send this message to citizens across the country that Chato is an investment potential spot. We have developed roads, an international airport, and soon we will be constructing a football stadium that will also be used as a tourist’s attractions. Most importantly, Chato is home to various minerals,” he said.

He also noted that power supply will be reliable in the area as the government is implementing the Stiegler’s Gorge hydroelectric power generation project along the Rufiji River Basin.

“I would like to assure local and foreign investors that they will not regret to come and invest in the district,” he said.

Dr Kalemani also explained that the most business challenge facing the area was a shortage of large and modern hotels, which was also an opportunity for investors interested in building luxury accommodation facilities that will provide services to an increased number of people visiting the district and the region in general.
