Dar es Salaam. Renowned lady golfer in the country Ayne Magombe of the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) has said that the NCBA Golf Series has provided her with significant lessons and experience, promising to perform well in the upcoming competitions.

Magombe represented Tanzania in the tournament in the women’s category while Morogoro Gymkhana Club golfer Seif Mcharo did so in the men's category.

According to the DGC golfer, the competition that involved 108 players was intense, with each player vying for the top position. Besides Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda also featured pairs of players, while Kenya was represented by players from 23 clubs.

"It was a unique and stiff competition with a lot of excitement. I congratulate the organisers and sponsors, NCBA Bank, for sponsoring this event under the slogan 'Maisha ni Hesabu,'" said Magombe.

Besides competing each other, she said the tournament was an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas among various stakeholders of the East African sport. For his part, NCBA Bank Tanzania Managing Director Claver Serumaga said the competition was largely successful and pledged to continue organising and sponsoring such events.

"I would like to express my sincere thanks and best wishes to the competitors, who represented the country in the tournament for the first time. “NCBA Bank Tanzania will continue to be a true partner in this sport through the philosophy of Maisha ni Hesabu, which means that life is about making the right calculations for a successful future," clarified Serumaga.

Serumaga mentioned that their bank's responsibility is to continue demonstrating that they are more than just a financial institution; they are partners in each customer's journey to success. Throughout the event, the bank's forward-thinking approach was evident, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology to create intuitive banking experiences and emphasising customer engagement.

“The Golf Series Grand Finale surpassed the realm of a mere sporting event; it evolved a platform for networking, idea exchange, and mutual growth. NCBA Bank's trailblazing initiatives, exemplified by events like these, are redefining not only banking, but also the future of customer experiences,” he said.

He added, “Our role at NCBA Bank transcends that of a mere financial institution; we see ourselves as partners in every customer's journey toward success. “This event marks just the beginning of our continuous efforts to foster and develop the golfing culture in Tanzania. We believe in the power of sports to unite communities and shape a future where every swing counts.

“Looking ahead, this Golf Series is just the first stroke in a series of attempts by NCBA Bank to contribute to the growth of golf in Tanzania. We're excited about the journey ahead, and we invite everyone to join us in shaping a vibrant golfing culture for the prosperity of our community,” he said.

He expressed their commitment to contribute to the development of golf in the country, particularly under the excellent leadership of the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) under its chairman, Gilman Kasiga.
