Dodoma. Natural Resources and Tourism minister Dr Hamis Kigwangalla has directed a committee on block allocations to ensure they quicken the process of putting in place a workable system of allocating hunting blocks.

Dr Kigwangalla made the comment Wednesday evening here when launching the Board of the Tanzania Wildlife Life Management Authority (TAWA) and the committee on the allocation of hunting blocks.

The minister said they expect the committee to establish a new system of allocating blocks for tourism hunting in the country.

“You also need to review past work done by experts (on hunting) so that you can advise me accordingly…,” he told the committee.

Dr Kigwangalla also directed the Tawa Board to supervise the establishment of a paramilitary unit and step up security in all protected areas.

Hunting block allocation committee chairman Dr David Manyanza said information and statistics were needed in giving advice.

“This committee is vital as it has a long history about wildlife and has a lot of things to offer,” he said.
