Kigoma. Kigoma Regional Police have launched an investigation into allegations that some leaders of political parties are going door‑to‑door in Kigoma North Constituency, misleading residents to collect and register voter identification numbers.

A statement released on Saturday, September 27, 2025, on the Police Force’s official regional platforms said Kigoma Regional Police Commander, SACP Filemon Makungu, confirmed the allegations related to incidents reported in the Kigoma North wards of Mwandiga, Kagunga, Simbo, Mkigo, Kagongo, and Kidawe.

The statement explains that such acts constitute a criminal offence under the Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Elections Act, 2024, specifically under Sections 14(1)(g) and 119(2) of Act No. 1 of 2024.

Commander Makungu said investigations into the allegations are ongoing: “Once concluded and facts established, all those found involved will face strict legal action.”
