Bus conductor held for allegedly causing death of passenger

Police in Singida Region are holding the conductor of a Hiace passenger van with registration no. T.544 DFS, Shaban Juma Mughwira (45), for allegedly assaulting his passenger who died thereafter.
According to the Acting Singida Regional Police Commander, Stella Mutabihirwa, the name of the passenger and his abode have not been established. However, his age was estimated to be between 25 and 30.
The Acting Regional Police Commander told reporters over the weekend that the incident occurred on August 2, this year, at 8:30pm in Malendi Village, Shelui Division, in Iramba District.
She clarified that after the deceased had boarded the vehicle plying between Singida and Igunga in Tabora Region, he slammed its door, an action that infuriated the conductor.
The Acting RPC also explained that following the passenger’s action, the enraged conductor slapped and pushed the passenger out of the van. He then fell to the tarmacked road, landing on his back. He eventually died.
She added that upon the completion of an investigation, the conductor would be taken to court to respond to a charge of causing the death of his passenger.
