Arusha. Gadget Tronics, an Arusha-based firm, will run an electronic information centre soon to be inaugurated at the Serengeti National Park (Senapa).

The multi-media facility constructed at a cost of $500,000 being a grant from South Korea is ready for inauguration.

“Everything is complete Gadget Tronics will give the technical support to run the system,” said Mr William Mwakilema, the chief park warden of Senapa. He told The Citizen that the equipment for the centre, he described as sophisticated, had been installed awaiting the official inauguration.

“They have been installed and successfully tensted, “ he said, noting that the electronic firm has been contracted to offer it a technical support when operationalised.

The electronic information centre, put up at the park’s Senonera headquarters, is aimed to expose the visitors to the wildlife splendour of the Serengeti, the oldest and most famous among the 16 protected areas managed by the Tanzania National Parks (Tanapa) through digital platorms.

Park officials believe when operational, the facility will bridge the gap of information for the tourists who would not be able to visit all the corners of the vast park.

The new centre would also complement the adjacent visitors’ centre at Seronera.which was constructed in the 1990s for the purpose but short of digital platforms. South Korea extended grant for its construction through its international cooperation agency, Koita.

Visitors to the centre would be briefed about the national park attractions through films on various aspects of wildlife and landscapes that the Serengeti is famous for.

The new electronic tourism centre is expected to be launched in Seronera. The centre would also be used by researchers from all corners of the world keen on crucial information on the wildlife movements such as the famous cycles of wildebeest migration and the like.
