Dar es Salaam. Coast Region’s Opposition Chadema has on Sunday condemned a spate of arrests of opposition political leaders. The party's information and communication secretary for Dar es Salaam Region, Mr Tambwe Hizza, told a press conference that Chadema was condemning the ongoing arrests because they violated the country's constitution.
"Opposition leaders have been targeted in the ongoing arrests for exercising rights provided by the country's constitution and the law. This is not acceptable in a country said to have been exercising democracy and human rights.
"Dar es Salaam residents should join hands with the opposition in condemning these acts which are on the increase, tarnishing the country's image in the face of the international community,” he said.
