Collisions with trucks leaves four dead

Rufiji. Four people have lost their lives in two separate road accidents at Nyamwage Village in Rufiji Districtafter motorcycles collided with trucks in Nyamwage Village, Rufiji District, in Coast Region.

The Rufiji Special Zone Police Commander, Mr Onesmo Lyanga confirmed the deaths yesterday, saying they occurred in different places of the village.

"It is true that two accidents have occurred at Nyamwage Village, causing the deaths of four people," he said.

In the first accident, Mr Lyanga named Mr Hamis Mwangia (35), a resident of Ikwiriri, as among the dead after his motorcycle rammed into a truck.

He said the deceased was riding was riding along the Dar es Salaam-Lindi Highway and that he died instantly after the collision.

According to the police commander, the second accident occurred on the Nyamwage-Mtwara Roadwherethree peoplewho were on a motorcycle crashed into a truck, which was ferrying sand and two died of them died on the spot. The remaining died at the village dispensary.

Mr Lyanga named the fallen as Mr Mbaki Abdallah Mkingie and Mr Razaki Nguyu. These died on the spot while Mr Imamu Ally died immediately after being admitted at the dispensary.

According to the police commander, the cause of the accident was speeding by the motorcycle rider, Mr Razaki Nguyu, who lost control and rammed into the truck.

He disclosed that the driver of the Scania truck was being held by police and that all the bodies of the deceased were already taken by their relatives for burials.
