MCT releases a report on Clouds Media Group raid

Dar es Salaam. The Media Council of Tanzania rules that the invasion of Clouds Media Group by Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner on March 17 interfered with media freedom.

This was revealed by Mr Juma Thomas, who read MCT’s report on CMG raid on Monday.

Mr Thomas, who was among those, who conducted the investigation, said although Mr Makonda had a habit to visit CMG premises but his conduct on March 17 compromised media freedom.

"Journalists are supposed to be independent in executing their duties but Mr Makonda interfered them in a move, which apparently treid to force them to air a certain program,” said Mr Thomas.

According to Mr Thomas MCT probing team’s efforts to interview Mr Makonda failed.
