Dar es Salaam. Police in Dar es Salaam have given Chadema national chairman Freeman Mbowe until tomorrow to report at the Central Police Station, failure of which he risks being arrested.

The Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander, Mr Simon Sirro, told reporters yesterday that Mr Mbowe was required to report because he was named by Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Paul Makonda to appear for questioning on his alleged involvement in drug dealings.

However, Mr Mbowe, who was named along other prominent people including prominent businessman Yusuf Manji and Bishop Josephat Gwajima, told the media in Dodoma that he would not comply because an RC had no powers to summon him, given his position.

But Mr Sirro insisted yesterday that no one was above the law.

“Yesterday we tried to look for him. We went to his home. We tried his phone. This is the last notice to him,” he said.
