Plans afoot to refer Lissu to US for treatment

Dar es Salaam. Chadema supporters in the diaspora have embarked on a fundraiser, aimed at collecting enough money to send Singida East MP, Tundu Lissu, to US for speacialised treatment following fatal shooting in Dodoma last week.

The Chadema sympathisers in the Diaspora have so far opened an online fundraising campaign through https://www.gofundme.com/Lissumedicalcare/donate, with a target of collecting $50,000 which would make it possible to fly Mr Tundu Lissu to the US for further medical care.

By 12.37am Thursday, some $2,173 had already been contributed by 52 well-wishers. Chadema Secretary General,Dr Vincent Mashinji,has been listed as a guarantor of the fundraiser.

"Your contribution will make it possible to transfer Hon. Lissu from Nairobi hospital to United States of America for further medical care," reads part of the statement on the go fund me website.

Mr Lissu, Chadema's chief whip was shot multiple times last Thursday as he arrived at his residence in Dodoma. He survived injuries on his stomach and limbs and was flown to Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi on advice from his family and party.

Reports show his health is improving despite some complications emerging, such as infections. He continues to receive medical care in Nairobi.
