Four Rwandan stars seal Slovakian moves

Kigali. Rwanda internationals, midfielders Rachid Kalisa and Jean-Claude Iranzi, right back Fitina Ombalenga, and central defender Abdul Rwatubyaye were officially unveiled at Slovakian club MFK Topvar Topoľčany over the weekend.

The foursome sealed two year deals with Slovakian third division side MFK Topvar Topoľčany, and will be relishing the adventure that comes with playing football in Europe.

At 25, Iranzi is the oldest of the four players with Abdul Rwatubyaye and Rachid Kalisa, all reported to 19 years old while Fitina Ombalenga a former defender at S C Kiyovu is reported to be 21.

“Playing in Europe is a dream come true for many players and it’s a big achievement for me. Every player wants to go professional. 

“I also believe it kind of inspires younger players back home to work hard. This is a big step in our career. Competing at such a level means a lot to any player,” he said.

The quartet’s new move is expected to raise the level of football in a country that is trying to have structures in place although they are yet to yield to dividends on the pitch. (Agencies)
