Young scientists in exhibition of new technologies

More than 200 secondary school students and 100 science teachers are expected to participate in a technological and scientific exhibition to be held tomorrow in the city.
The Young Scientists Tanzania (YST) Executive Director, Gosbert Kamugisha, said on Sunday that the exhibition had been organized under the support of BG Tanzania, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell plc.
"During a two-day exhibition, young scientists will display projects in different areas of science such as chemical, physical and mathematical science," he said.
Besides that, he said biological, ecological science, social and behavioural science and technology will also be showcased, explaining that the move aimed at finding practical solutions to development challenges in health, agriculture, food and security, communication and transportation safety.
He said that young scientists with best projects will be awarded cash prizes, medals, trophies, lab equipment and library refurbishment for their schools. Apart from that, four young scientists will be awarded scholarships to enable them to pursue scientific and technological studies at university level as a way of helping them to advance in their scientific talents.
