CCM warns members as calls to dethrone Rukwa MPs grow

Sumbawanga. CCM in Rukwa Region has warned some of its members against announcing their intentions of vying for parliamentary seats before the right time.

It said such people should stop doing so or else disciplinary action would be taken against them.

Rukwa Regional CCM chairman Rainer Lukalah was reacting to complaints by some MPs, who claimed that some party members were holding secret meetings to dethrone the current lawmakers.

Some CCM members said what was happening was chaos that should be stopped.

They suggested that the party summon and reprimand such people in writing as they were violating CCM procedures.

Some non-governmental organisations and individuals have been calling on incumbent MPs not to vie for the 2020 polls to allow young and educated people to contest in Rukwa.

They noted that the region was supposed to have young MPs, who could be appointed ministers.
