Simba face tough test of Ndanda in Mainland League

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania Premier League title defending champions, Simba Sports Club, will today face an acidic test of Ndanda Football Club of Mtwara at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

As Simba SC look for a victory to continue with their race of retaining the title for the second time in a row, Ndanda FC are fighting to avoid relegation to the first division.

The match is expected to be tough as victory is very important to both teams. In their first meeting, the two teams drew a barren draw.

The match held on September 15 at the Nangwanda Sijaona Stadium in Mtwara.

Simba need at least five points to win the title for 20 times since the league was established in 1965. Young Africans lead the pack as they have snatched the title for 27 times.

Simba are currently at the top with 85 points after playing 34 matches while Young Africans are placed second with 83 points from 36 matches.

As the traditional rivals, Simba and Young Africans, are in the title race, African Lyon have already been relegated to the first division while other 11 teams are also in the danger of facing relegation to the first division or to feature in the play-offs.

Simba SC head coach Patrick Aussems said they were targeting victory against Ndanda FC as his players were in top morale to deliver the best results.

“We know the match will be tough for us as we play against the team that also need results to improve their status in the league standings.

“My players are focused and know the importance of the match,” said Aussems. African Lyon has already been relegated to the First Division. Another 11 clubs are in danger of relegation.
