The Lake Zone has the highest rate of secondary school dropouts in Tanzania, represented by 5,844 ex-students in the 2012/2013 academic year, Sengerema and Geita topping the poor record.
According to data from Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, forty per cent of the top ten districts in the category were from lake zones, led by Sengerema, and followed by Geita. The former comprised 2,495 and the latter 1,178 of the total drop out.
