Smirnoff DJ search reaches climax in style

Can everyone become a DJ? This is a question that many will answer in the affirmative because of the common belief that everyone can DJ.

But when you’re hosting your Easter Party this weekend you need assurance that your DJ is going to fill the dance floor.

For your party to be a guaranteed success, you need top quality entertainment and our roster is full of talented musicians who will play at your bar, Easter party, fashion show or whatever reason you make up to have a party.

The third season Smirnoff Ice Black DJ Search finally reached its climax this week bring the long search to its end and may be party hosts have a whole lot to pick from after hundreds tried their lack on the wheels of steel.

After all was done DJ KG emerged on top of the pile which included six finalists winning himself a DJ kit and laptop for his use at the finals held at Life Park in Mwenge Dar es Salaam.

According to organisers the search’s main aim is to build an emotional connection with the brewer’s target consumers who are always found at the party scene.

Just like during the launch at Coco Beach in Dar es Salaam, the turn up here was equally impressive as budding DJs showcased their skills driving the expectant audience into frenzy.

Speaking to the Beat Ester Raphael, the Brand and activation manager says the bond between quality music and beverages is one that is unbreakable and that is why they continue to facilitate such events.

“Through this competition, SBL will offered thrilling moments for music lovers visiting bars while providing an ideal opportunity to unearth, promote and nurture talents in the world of music and DJs”, Esther says.

Apart from Dar es Salaam the poreliminary rounds of the competition was held in other regional towns and cities of Morogoro, Dodoma and Mwanza featuring a total of 80 DJs.

“There is more to this contest than just the reward for the winning DJs because it is a platform for young talent to showcase their skills to a wide audience,” she says.

Mohamed Jabir was a reveller who attended the Coco Beach event and he was at Mwenge as well he believes that such events can sharpen one’ skills because it is based on the core principles of disc jockeying.

“A perfect DJ for an event, must meet specific needs and are open to interaction with guests. There’s nothing more destructive to a party atmosphere than seeing the DJ scrolling through their Facebook timeline, more interested in posting selfies of themselves,” he says.

According to Jabir who does some disc jockeying on a part time basis, there is no better feeling than seeing the dance floor full, playing tracks that keeps the audience on their feet the whole night.

“This is where the training aspect comes into play, a good DJ must be able to study his audience and play just what they want,” he says.

Female DJs are not very many in the market today but Sarah who despite not participating says she is into spinning the wheels of steel

“The open format (multi-genre) DJs allow for flexibility throughout their sets and won’t be restricted by just one genre, they’ll have something for everyone,” says the 24-year old.

It is not clear whether the contest will continue but having had the two previous seasons there is every reason for organizers to believe that they are destined for a bright future.
