Exim Bank launches Afcon 2019 Campaign

Tanzania qualified for the top-flight tournament after a mouth-watering victory over the best ranked team in the region, the Uganda Cranes.

On March 24, the Tanzania national soccer team Taifa Stars qualified for only the second time in history for AFCON finals which is set to kick off in June, in Egypt.

The 3-0 victory was a dream because it had taken Tanzania 39 years since the last time Taifa stars qualified for the epic tournament which was held in Lagos Nigeria.

Taifa Stars secured a second berth in a group that included Lesotho and Cape Verde with Uganda finishing on top of the log.

After Taifa Stars’ performance and qualification of AFCON 2019 in Egypt, some of the organizations, institutions and stakeholders have risen forefront for pouring credits to the National heroes.

Some of these organizations have gone further by deciding to offer Tanzanians a chance to travel to Egypt to watch and supporting Taifa Stars in action.

Exim Bank which has launched a two-month deposit and win campaign dubbed ‘Afconika na Exim’ in which it will reward its customers with an all-expenses paid trip to go support Taifa Stars at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.

‘Afconika na Exim’ campaign aims at fostering a savings culture in Tanzania and at the same time give its customers an opportunity to get instant rewards whilst supporting the national team.

“This campaign is open to our new and existing customers and will run for two months, from today until beginning of June. It comes as part of Exim Bank’s ongoing initiatives committed to the prosperity of its customers termed ‘Exim at work today, for tomorrow’ which is in line with the bank’s mission and vision,’’ said Mr. Andrew Lyimo, Exim Bank’s Head of Retail banking.

He said the winners of the campaign will have a unique chance to experience their passion for the game and live their dream to enjoy a lifetime experience of watching Taifa Stars at AFCON 2019 finals in Egypt with an all-expenses-paid trip.

“There will be 5 winners in total where 2 winners during the 1st month and 3 during the second month. For the new customers, all they need to do to qualify is to open a Savings Account and maintain a monthly balance of TZS 500,000 or above or open a Current Account with a minimum average monthly balance of TZS 10,000,000 or booking of a fixed deposit (FD) valued at a minimum of TZS 5,000,000.’’ He said.

For the bank’s existing customers, Mr. Lyimo said all they need to do is increase their balance by TZS 500,000 or above for Savings Accounts or increase their Current Account by TZS 10,000,000 or simply by booking of a Fixed deposit (FD) valued at a minimum of TZS 5,000,000.
