Rwandan opposition leader launches new political party

What you need to know:

  • Victoire Ingabire's previous party FDU-Inkingi was not recognised by the government of President Paul Kagame.
  • Ingabire says the new party would be called Dalfa Umurunzi (Development And Liberty For All).
  • Although Rwanda is constitutionally a multi-party system there is practically no opposition, with most of the recognised parties supporting the ruling RPF.
