Motorist in Tanzania to face more pain as fuel prices rise

Dar es Salaam. Motorists in Tanzania will continue digging deeper into their pockets this month as fuel prices increased starting today April 03, 2024.

The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (Ewura) released fuel prices for the month of April, with prices skyrocketing across the board.

Ewura attributes the local price hike to the increase in prices of refined oil in the global market (FOB), the increase in the foreign exchange rate by 3.19 percent due to the increase in the use of Euro to pay for imported oil.

According to the latest price list, a litre of petrol in the country's commercial hub of Dar es Salaam will be sold for Sh3,257, up from Sh3,163.

The retail price of diesel in Dar es Salaam is set at Sh3,210 per liter and Sh2,840 for kerosene.

The price of petrol that was imported through Mtwara port will now be Sh3,260 up from Sh3,023 a litre in March while diesel will be sold at Sh3,212 a litre up from Sh3,070.

The price of petrol that was imported through Tanga port will now be Sh3,303 a litre up from Sh3,209 in March whiel diesel will be sold at Sh3,256 up from Sh3,173 a litre.
