RwandAir to start direct flights to Paris

Dar es Salaam. RwandAir, which has three weekly flights in Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro to Kigali, plans to launch its first direct flights to Paris in June this year, the airline has said.

Passengers flying from Kigali to Paris will reach their destination in eight and a half hours, the airline said in a statement yesterday, adding that the flights are expected to begin on June 27 this year.

RwandAir chief executive officer Yvonne Makolo said: “The launch of our first flights to Paris is an exciting development in continuing expansion and a testament to the importance of French-Rwandan relations.”

“France is a major hub for RwandAir as we connect the continents of Africa and Europe through our home hub in Kigali with this new direct service to Paris, one of the world’s top tourist destinations. French travellers can look forward to a warm welcome.”

From a cargo perspective, Rwanda has horticultural and agricultural industries with strong connections and markets in France, said Ms Makolo.

The return flight with the best connections departs Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport at 21:30pm on Thursday and Saturday and arrives in Kigali at 0600hrs the following day.

The Dar es Salaam flight departs Kigali at 1135 hours. Fares, from Dar es Salaam in economy class to Paris start at $561 return, including taxes. Business-class fares from Dar es Salaam to Paris start at $1893 return, including taxes.
