Safari Nyama Choma contest to reach its climax on Sunday

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania is home to many things, from the plains of the Serengeti which is Africa’s leading National Park to the world’s tallest free standing mountain, the Kilimanjaro.
However, one thing that almost every visitor is the local nyama choma delicacy which can be found in almost every part of the country.
On Sunday, after 15 days of search, the Safari Nyama Choma contest reaches its peak with 60 outlets putting their skills to test at Governor’s Sports Bar
At stake is Sh 2 million prize money that the eventual winner will walk away with after a grueling contest.
Apart from the prize money the winner will also participate in the nyama choma festival that’s taking place in Dar es Salaam December 4 and 5.
Organisers say the bars were selected by fans as part of a public vote which was held on the Safari Lager social media pages and via WhatsApp.
Revellers were given access to vote and rate the meat after testing them it in the outlet they were in during the competition.
Speaking at a news conference Safari Lager brand manager, Pamela Kikuli, said that they are glad to be part of the NyamaChoma contest which they have also held in the past.
To judge the contestants the judging panel will be led experienced chef Fred Uisso, who is famed for his Masapta Sapata, a reality TV cooking show which runs on Uhai TV.
The second judge is Chef Hassanal Msiha who is currently a tutor and head Chef at Zanzibar Transworld Academy who has specialized in Hot Kitchen, pastry and BBQ.
Speaking at the news conference the lead judge, Chef Uisso said that Safari NyamaChoma competition apart from motivating bars to value their BBQ services by adding value in it, it has also motivated them to value hygiene in their services which is among the most important aspect in BBQ.
