Russia’s only aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov catches fire

Moscow. A fire broke out Thursday on Russia's only aircraft carrier as it underwent repairs in an Artic shipyard, Russian news agencies reported, with at least six people reportedly injured, whereas two are listed as missing.
The Admiral Kuznetsov has been undergoing repairs for more than two years in Murmansk and suffered previous damage in October 2018 when a crane crashed onto its deck. Fuel is reportedly burning aboard the ship.
The blaze was sparked by welding, after which the fire spread to a space of 600 square meters (6,460 square feet), an emergency services source told TASS.
Firefighters are battling the blaze, which started in the first power section of the vessel. The efforts to put it down have reportedly been made more difficult by the heavy smoke coming from the burning cables.
Workers have been evacuated from the burning vessel. Six people have been injured, while two are missing, the source said.
