KQ diverts some flights from JKIA to Tanzania due to poor visibility

What you need to know:

  • In a statement, KQ notified passengers of potential delays in arrivals and departures in Nairobi while emphasizing their commitment to passenger safety and comfort.

Dar Es Salaam. Kenya Airways (KQ) has redirected several flights scheduled to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Mombasa and Kilimanjaro Tanzania on Thursday morning, citing adverse weather conditions affecting visibility.

It was not immediately clear how many flights were actually redirected to the Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA).

In a statement, KQ notified passengers of potential delays in arrivals and departures in Nairobi while emphasizing their commitment to passenger safety and comfort.

"We would like to inform our valued customers that due to poor visibility caused by adverse weather conditions, we have diverted some of our flights to Mombasa and Kilimanjaro," the statement explained.

"We anticipate delays in both arrivals and departures at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that we have implemented all necessary safety measures, prioritizing the well-being of our passengers and crew."

This decision comes as part of KQ's efforts to ensure passenger safety amidst challenging weather conditions affecting flight operations.
