Absa Bank commits to empowering Tanzanian children

In a bid to ensure Tanzanian children achieve their life goals, Absa Bank Tanzania has donated a sum of Sh10 million to support the operations of the international organization involved in alternative childcare known as SOS Children's Village.
Speaking at the signing ceremony for the donation in Dar es Salaam today, the Director of Global Markets at the bank, Ms. Esther Maruma, stated that the contribution aligns with Absa Bank's main purpose of empowering Tanzania for a Better Tomorrow, One Step at a Time, including uplifting the economic status of the African continent.
Representing the bank's CEO at the event, Ms. Esther said, "The purpose of Absa Bank Tanzania is to empower Tanzanian children educationally, health-wise, and economically. We believe this donation will significantly contribute to improving the lives of children receiving various services at this facility."
Receiving the donation, the Acting Director of SOS Children's Village, Ms. Dorothy Ndege, expressed that their organization will continue to strengthen child protection systems at all levels of society, thus enabling the sustainable well-being of the community.
"We express our gratitude to Absa Bank, the assistance we receive will support our efforts in establishing 210 savings groups, impacting approximately 3,150 individuals in the Coastal and Dar es Salaam regions, this will enhance their economic conditions and ultimately improve family-level care," stated Ms. Dorothy.
On his part, Mr. Aron Luhanga, the Head of Marketing and Corporate Relations at the bank, affirmed that Absa Bank Tanzania is committed to designing various projects aimed at reaching communities in need and increasing their involvement in social activities.
