Dar es Salaam. Zanzibar President Ali Mohamed Shein has urged local entrepreneurs to respect their customers by selling them genuine products as doing so is essential for business prosperity.
Dr Shein made the call during his visit to the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF). He warned the entrepreneurs that there was no shortcut for success as the only way was to win customer trust.
“When you tell your customers that your products have been made up of certain ingredients you must tell the truth because some people are allergic to certain ingredients,” said the Isles leader.
Dr Shein also urged Tanzanians to use home made products if the country was to realise an industrial economy.
According to him, some local products are superior to the imported ones, but some people have unfortunate tendency of preferring the lattereven when they areshoddy.
He expressed his optimism that Tanzania was on course to achieve its industrialisation dream.
He explained that there were still some challenges like poor packaging, but some of them had been addressed.
“I have seen a lot of new technologies and products, which have been innovated by local people. I see a lot of progress compared to when I last visited last year’s exhibition. We are on course to create an industrial economy,” Dr Shein stressed.
