Kilosa. Residents in Ngaite Village here are protesting against the Kilosa district council’s plans to delist the village.

The council says its decision to delist the village stems from the fact that its establishment didn’t follow proper procedures.

Herdsmen have faulted the council over the decision, saying they adhered to the laid down laws and procedures when establishing the village, which was previously part of Malangali Village.

They said they were not ready to vacate because they had invested a lot, including construction of schools, churches, mosques and residential houses.

Presenting proposals at a village assembly, Parakuyo Councillor Ibrahim Oloshuro Kalaita said the Kilosa District Executive Director had already tabled proposals to the full Council meeting that the establishment of the village had no blessing from the parent Malangali Village.

The councillor told residents that Ngaite Village has no enough area for economic activities. He added that community development department had no enough income from its internal sources for a new village. Mr Kalaita added that the District Executive Directors said Ngaite Village had no proper boundaries.

After the report from the councillor, some villagers started crying, others fell down unconsciously.

Ngaite Village chairman Okeshu Lolunga said they were planning to notify to Prime Minister Mr Kassim Majaliwa about the matter.

Calvary Assembles of God (CAG) Bishop for Eastern Zone Israel Ole Kilwaha said the move by the government would cause more conflicts among community members.

He said the establishment of Ngaite Village had blessings from the parent Mlangali Vilage. Kilosa district executive Director Kessy Mkambala admitted the that his office has issued a proposal to the full council to nullify the existence of Ngaite Village because it was established contrary to the local government legal procedure No.7 of 1982.
