Mwanza. The Business Registration and Licensing Agency (Brela) says it will  de-register 37,000 companies across the country for failure to submit their annual returns and audited accounts.

Brela’s chief executive officer Frank Kanyusi  said that the law requires all registered companies to submit their annual returns and audited reports to Brela.

According to him, the licensing agency will register 15,000 companies this year after educating the masses on procedures for company registration across the country.

He noted that a total of 150,000 companies have been registered since 1999.

“Out of that number, a total of 9,000 companies and 20 factories were registered in 2015,” he said.
