Dar NGO gives Malaika Kids Center a shot in the arm

What you need to know:

  • The foundation seeks to ensure increased access to quality healthcare and education for all regardless of geographical location, ethnic group, gender, age or any form of disability

Dar es Salaam. A non-governmental organization Heri Foundation has launched a long-term partnership with Malaika Kids Centre in Kinondoni district whereby children at the centre will be mentored to ensure they achieve their dreams.

The foundation seeks to ensure increased access to quality healthcare and education for all regardless of geographical location, ethnic group, gender, age or any form of disability.

The foundation’s executive director Ms Suzan Ngole was speaking after visiting the orphanage centre and donating items including food and clothes meant to support the children’s welfare, making them feel cared for.

Ms Ngole added, “As we mark our second anniversary, we are proud to have yet again made a significant impact in the lives of the less fortunate.”

“Our mission is to contribute to facilitating access to quality education and healthcare services in Tanzania through capacity building enhancement and provision of related facilities, so through our partnership with Malaika Kids, children here will be getting the opportunity to visit various companies and organizations to learn how they are operating so as to enable them to nurture their dreams and carriers,” she explained.

Speaking after the handover, the centre’s caregiver, Mr Ramadhan Mahumbi thanked the foundation for the support pointing out that the donations cover almost all of the basic needs that the children use in their day-to-day lives.

He said the donations are timely and will cut their operating costs allowing them to redirect their funds to other needs, adding the centre is currently supporting over 200 children where others are in the Mkuranga-based centre and others in the streets with their families.

“We are more than grateful for this donation. We urge more stakeholders to come and chip in, the children are a communal responsibility we all have a part to play in their wellbeing,” he said.
