Development partners disburse only 33pc of budget target in nine months

“Until March 2018, we had received a total of Sh182.92 billion from development partners, equivalent to 32.89 per cent of the Sh556.08 billion target for the entire 2017/18 financial year,” the deputy minister for Finance and Planning, Dr Ashatu Kijaji said.
Dodoma. The government has received only 32.89 per cent of what was pledged by development partners, three months before the financial year expires, the Parliament heard on Wednesday.
“Until March 2018, we had received a total of Sh182.92 billion from development partners, equivalent to 32.89 per cent of the Sh556.08 billion target for the entire 2017/18 financial year,” the deputy minister for Finance and Planning, Dr Ashatu Kijaji said.
Dr Kijaji was responding to a question by Machano Othman Said (CCM – Zanzibar House of Representatives) who wanted to know how much the government had received as Basket Fund from development partners since the beginning of the financial year.
He also wanted to know how much of the money was meant to finance the Budget of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.
According to Dr Kijaji, Zanzibar is receiving Basket Funding directly from development partners in accordance with the Government Loans, Guarantees and Grants Act of 1974 and its various amendments.
