GGML positions itself as a strategic partner in sustainable land management at national forum in Arusha

Arusha. Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML), a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable land use and environmental stewardship at the ongoing Land Use Planning Multi-Stakeholder Forum taking place until 26 June, 2025 at Lush Garden Hotel in Arusha.
Organized by the National Land Use Planning Commission (NLUPC – Tume ya Mipango ya Matumizi ya Ardhi), the high-level forum convened government officials, land experts, environmentalists, and private sector leaders to advance a coordinated national approach to sustainable land management.
Held under the theme “Land Use Planning as a Key Tool for Environmental Stewardship and Sustainable Development,” the forum underscored the strategic importance of integrated planning in balancing environmental protection, economic development, and community well-being.
Representing GGML, Senior Legal Counsel David Nzaligo emphasized the company’s role in contributing to discussions on how effective land use planning can support sustainable mining, resilient communities, and the conservation of natural resources.
“The forum echoed GGML’s deep commitment to responsible land management, environmental conservation, and uplifting communities,” he stated.
“We believe inclusive and forward-looking planning is essential to ensuring a prosperous and environmentally sound future for Tanzania.”
