Muheza. The minister for Land, Housing and Human Settlement Development, Mr William Lukuvi, has advised councils and government institutions to issue tenders to the National Housing Cooperation (NHC) for implementation of building projects, commending the corporation for meeting international standards.

He gave the advice on Monday, March 18, 2019, during a visit by members of the parliamentary committee on Land, Natural Resources and Tourism to inspect 10 houses belonging to Muheza District council constructed by NHC.

“I’m satisfied with the project as it conforms to international standards. I, therefore, advise other district councils and institutions to use the NHC when implementing similar projects,” he said.

NHC project manager Manning Mwalwaka said at least 10 residential buildings have been built at Chatuu Kibanda for council staff.

According to him, Sh225 million will be spent on the project that consists five three-bedroomed houses and five others with two bedrooms, a kitchen and sitting rooms.

For his part, Handeni District executive director (DED) Nassib Mbaga said until now NHC has received Sh135 million in payment, noting that the remaining Sh90 million will be paid after completion of the project.
