Dr Malasusa made the challenge on Tuesday in Moshi during a church service to welcome new leaders of the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) and bid farewell to those whose tenure has come to an end.

Moshi. Bishop Alex Malasusa of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania has challenged workers to undertake their duties diligently instead of waiting to be pushed by President John Magufuli.

Dr Malasusa made the challenge on Tuesday in Moshi during a church service to welcome new leaders of the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) and bid farewell to those whose tenure has come to an end.

“There are Christians who must be pushed to work. For a Christian, working hard and diligently is fulfilling God’s command. One does not have to wait for surprise visits from the occupant of the State House (President Magufuli), said Bishop Malasusa.

The Church leader explained that the worker who has seen the light of Jesus Christ should never be lacking in diligence at his work place. He said, such a worker cannot engage in stealing or fraudulent practices.

KCMC’s new executive director Dr Gilliad Masenga, who takes over from Dr Moshi Ntabaye, said he would ensure a new KCMC, which was compatible with the name of a Good Samaritan, was built.

“We need to build a new hospital that goes with the name of a Good Samaritan and those who have come to tarnish the good reputation in service provision for patients let them leave our hospital because I will not bear with them,” Dr Masenga said.

He explained that he would work in cooperation with the Board of Good Samaritan Foundation (GSF) that runs the hospital, heads of departments and staff in addressing the challenges facing the facility.

He said the challenges include the shortage of workers and medical equipment, expressing that the target was to make the hospital one of the best centres in medical service provision for patients.

Ministry of Health representative Edith Bakari, said under the Fifth Phase Government, honesty was something to be given priority. She called on those abusing patients with bad language to stop immediately.
