Dodoma. The Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office (Union and Environment), Hamad Yusuph Masauni, has urged Tanzanians to take environmental conservation seriously, warning that complacency threatens the country’s ability to remain a safe and sustainable place to live.

Speaking on 25 June 2025 during a working session with senior management of the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) in Dodoma, Masauni stressed the need for greater investment in public education and awareness to strengthen understanding of environmental laws.

“The Council must intensify its efforts in service delivery and public education to ensure citizens are aware of their responsibilities under the Environmental Management Act,” said Masauni. “Everyone has a role to play in preserving and managing our environment.”

He added that the success of environmental protection efforts relies on the active participation of all stakeholders, including government institutions and the general public.

During the meeting, NEMC Director General, Dr Immaculate Sware Semesi, expressed appreciation for the Minister’s engagement with the Council’s leadership.

She noted that the session allowed for valuable exchange of ideas and feedback aimed at strengthening the institution’s operations and advancing national environmental goals.
