Oil and gas profits could take a decade

“Tanzanians will have to wait for at least ten years from now before they start reaping the fruits of their discovered natural gas adding that the gas investor will be here for a long time to pursue development and production in the gas sector.
Mwanza. Tanzanians will have to wait longer before they start benefiting from revenues generated from the explored natural gas, Tanzania Development and Production International (TDPI) country manager, Mr Oystein Michelsen said yesterday.
Speaking to reporters the TDPI boss said:
“Tanzanians will have to wait for at least ten years from now before they start reaping the fruits of their discovered natural gas adding that the gas investor will be here for a long time to pursue development and production in the gas sector.
Mr Oystein who doubles as the executive vice president of the Development and Production Norway (DPN) said as an international oil and gas investor, they are still working hugely to ensure people countrywide will soon begin benefiting from the 22 trillion cubic feet volume of the discovered natural gas.
But according to the Misungwi District Commissioner Mwajuma Nyiruka said gas investors must need to work hard so that every Tanzanians could benefit from the business as soon as possible.
“ We are all looking forward to benefit from natural gas in the Southern regions, we expect Tanzania to become an industrial country in the near future,” she said.
