Orchid Group empowers women and youth through entrepreneurial training

Dar es Salaam. Orchid Group, a youth organization founded just a year ago is tackling unemployment by providing entrepreneurial education with a focus on digital skills.

Their program equips women, youth, and elders with the tools they need to launch and manage their businesses.

Over 70 individuals have already benefited from the program, gaining skills in demand fields like beauty services, cake baking, and liquid soap making.

However, the Orchid Group goes beyond just skills training, they also teach participants how to leverage digital platforms to market their business effectively.

“We saw the struggles young people faced with unemployment,” said Narsa Francis organization’s managing director, “This programme empowers them with the skills and knowledge to become self-employed and generate income.”

The results speak for themselves, Ms Francis highlights the success stories of program graduates who have launched thriving businesses. “Being self-employed offers more than just financial gain.”

“It fosters discipline, and time management skills and opens doors to valuable networks that can further enhance your business,” she said.

On the other hand, a beneficiary Ms Halima Shaban said, “I am a small entrepreneur, but I attended the baking cake training and received new ideas that help me cook the best cakes and sell them online.”

She thanked the organization for initiating such a program aimed at uplifting youth, especially women, and enabling them to increase their income through small businesses.

“The Orchid Group has given me the light of success and a way out of poverty. I can now bake delicious cakes and other related products. My message to fellow young people is to seek out training opportunities to acquire skills instead of sitting and waiting for employment,” she said
