TADB donates Sh400 million as main sponsor of Nane Nane 2025

The Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has been hailed for accelerating the growth of the agricultural sector in the country through the provision of loans for farm inputs and equipment to farmers across Tanzania.
Speaking to journalists on July 31, 2025 in Dodoma shortly after receiving a symbolic cheque worth Sh400 million from TADB, the main sponsor of this year’s National Nane Nane Exhibition, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Jerald Mweli, said that the Sixth Phase Government, through TADB, has played a crucial role in empowering farmers by offering affordable credit to boost productivity.
“This year’s Nane Nane coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank, which has played a pivotal role in transforming the agricultural sector,” Mr Mweli emphasised.
He further noted that the exhibition will feature a variety of activities, including forums, services from financial institutions for farmers, and agricultural education.

On his part, the Managing Director of TADB, Mr Frank Nyabundege, attributed the bank’s growth to the political will of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, which has enabled the bank to become one of the country’s leading financial institutions.
He explained that the agricultural sector employs over 70 percent of Tanzanians and thus plays a vital role in national economic development.
“TADB is a leader in providing agricultural loans aimed at increasing farmers’ productivity. The bank collaborates with 19 other banks to offer low-interest loans to farmers with the goal of strengthening the agricultural sector,” Mr Nyabundege stressed.
Highlighting the bank’s achievements, he said that TADB’s asset base has grown significantly, reaching Sh1.2 trillion thanks to investments made by the Sixth Phase Government since taking office in 2021.
Regarding agricultural loans issued by financial institutions, Mr Nyabundege stated that over Sh 4 trillion has been disbursed during President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s administration.
TADB continues to partner with 19 banks to provide concessional loans to farmers nationwide, reaffirming its commitment to advancing the agricultural sector.
