Tanzanian to chair Exploration firm board

Australian mining company Volt Resources (VRC) has appointed Tanzanian Asimwe Kabunga as its new chairman.
According to a company statement released on Friday, Mr Kabunga succeeded Mr Stephen Hunt.
VRC is a graphite exploration company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. It has been involved in exploration and development of Namangale Graphite Project in Tanzania and the identification of further assets globally which have the potential to add value to shareholders.
“It has been a great honour and privilege to be chairman of VRC, and the time is right to hand over to Asimwe to oversee the exciting next stage of VRC’s development, particularly given his vast expertise in Tanzania,” quoted Mr Hunt who served in the position since 2015.
Mr Kabunga joined VRC’s board as a non-executive director in April 2017 and is the original vendor of the Namangale tenements and also remains the largest single shareholder of the company.
“Stephen has worked tirelessly as chairman to establish VRC as a credible developerof the Namangale project. On behalf of all the board, I thank him for his contribution and dedication,” the statement quoted Mr Kabunga.
Mid last month, Volt signed its fifth offtake agreement this year filling 100 per cent of proposed stage one capacity at its flagship Namangale project.
According to the company, Mr Kabunga has a 20-year technical and commercial experience in entrepreneurship amassed from Tanzania, US and Australia. He has been instrumental in establishing the Tanzania Community of Western Australia Inc, and served as its first president.
He was also the founding member of Rafiki Surgical Missions and Safina Foundation, both NGOs dedicated to helping children in Tanzania.
