Twitter goes crazy over Trump’s new word: covfefe

Dar es Salaam. The United States (US) President Donald Trump baffled Twitter users last night with a strange word that didn’t seem to bring a clear meaning in any language.

Within six hours, it had been retweeted more than 127,000 times and “liked” more than 162,000 times which according to The Washington Post makes it one of his most popular tweets in months.
By 5:48 a.m. EST (12:48 p.m. GMT), the tweet had been deleted but the word had trended vastly making number of Tweeter users use it to tweet different things that don’t literally make sense.
Among others who tweeted using #cofveve Oliver Willis tweeted "Everybody has #covfefe now. I'm into the early stuff, like #bqwhatever" while another tweeter user Randy Rainbow saying “The best part of waking up is #covfefein your cup” and Zanti Misfit “Nine months from now there will be a flood of babies named #Covfefe”.
Just after an hour, Merriam Webster came into the rescue for many who were trying to figure out what the word meant. The tweet read, ‘Wakes up. Checks Twitter. Uh… Looksup fo… Regrets checking Twitter. Goes back to bed.” It had 40,000 retweets and 72,000 likes by 1:45 p.m. GMT
