Unido: Financing, market access vital factors for growth of entrepreneurship

Dar es Salaam. The representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido) to Tanzania, Mr Stephen Kargbo, has said not only favourable policies are key factors in the development of entrepreneurship but also other factors like access to markets and financing.
Mr Kargbo said this on Tuesday, November 13 in the city during the opening of the World Entrepreneurship Week in Tanzania, where The Launch Pad Company prepared a symposium involving entrepreneurs to discuss the sector’s ecosystem.
“You can have good policies but without other factors like markets and finances the entrepreneurship sector will face challenges in growth,” he said.
He added that such initiatives (symposium) were essentials in collecting the information regarding the sector and helps in identifying challenges facing entrepreneurs.
For his part, Launch Pad director Henry Kulaya said the company was focusing on providing effective solutions towards employability and entrepreneurship through training and the symposium would help in collecting facts from entrepreneurs and presenting them to the authorities.
“We have had good cooperation from the Ministry of Labour and Employment as well as from Ministry of Education,” he said.
According to him, they were in talks with the ministry to include skills education in the national curriculum.
The World Entrepreneurship Week is marked in November annually, during which a number of events are organised by providing.
The week is marked in 170 countries and activities inspire many more people to go for self-employment, networking, find mentors and even potential investors.
