Tanzania’s Vice-President, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has ordered both Serengeti District and Mara Region’s authorities to hasten the phase one construction of the district’s hospital so that residents avoid travelling to the neighboring regions of Arusha and Mwanza for health services.
The Vice-President issued the order today on 6 June, 2017 at a public meeting in Mugumu Town, Serengeti District, in Mara Region shortly after she had inspected the construction of the district hospital and laid the foundation stone.
She said since Serengeti District was being visited by a big number of foreign visitors, who went to view the Serengeti National Park, it was important for leaders of the district and the region, including development partners, to complete the construction on schedule so that the sick residents could be provided with reliable health services in the district.
The Vice-President has also called upon other members of the public to support the efforts being made by the government in fighting against graft so that the completed projects could benefit all people.
For his part, the Mara Regional Commissioner, Dr Charles Mlingwa, assured the VP that all of her directives would be worked upon effectively so that the challenges facing the residents could be addressed.
The Vice-President is still on official tour of Mara Region, whereby tomorrow she will be visiting Butiama and Musoma districts in the region.
