During her visit, Dr. Okoro will meet with Chief Justice Prof. Ibrahim Hamis Juma as well as Dr Philip Mpango, the Minister for Finance and Planning and other senior government officials.

“Dr Okoro will participate in a Roundtable Discussion bringing together various justice sector civil society representatives and other stakeholders to deliberate on issues relating to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the country and explore innovative legal approaches and gender-specific strategies to fighting it.”

A key component of this Project is access to Justice and public trust under which a ‘Justice-on-Wheels’ Program (Mobile Courts) is being implemented with the aim of bringing justice services closer to the people, especially in peri-urban and rural areas.

“This component aims to empower vulnerable groups especially women, youth, and small businesses by providing quick and affordable justice services where they live and work”.

Dr Okoro will then travel to Arusha where she will co-host together with Chief Justice Juma a high-level conference on Gender and the Judiciary in Sub-Saharan Africa, June 10-14, 2018.

Before joining the World Bank, Dr Okoro, a British national, served as the Global General Counsel for HSBC Global Asset Management.
